About Us

Originally conceived as as demo studio for recording his original songs, Hat Creek owner Bobby Starnes soon discovered that there was a strong need in the Tri-Cities area for a high quality studio with a very relaxed atmosphere. A studio where musicians and singers could be themselves and have an enjoyable experience. "I think everyone performs their best when they are comfortable," he says, "and I always make that a high priority before starting any new project. We are here to help them in anyway possible to capture their best performance, have a fun experience, and to leave with a product that they are, and that we are, proud of."

Bobby Starnes

Bobby Starnes wrote his first song at age 14. Retiring from the road and performing in 1998 to concentrate soley on his songwriting, he has had songs recorded by Blue Highway, Claire Lynch, The Boxcars, Larry Sparks, Grasstowne, Kenny & Amanda Smith, Trey Hensley, Cumberland Gap Connection, Shannon Slaughter, Janet Williams(w Tony Rice), David Grindstaff, Jeff Parker, and many others.

As producer(or co-producer), his credits include Tim Stafford's "Endless Line", James Alan Shelton's "Songs For Greta", Trey Hensley's "Back To Birmingham" "Number 3 With A Bullet" "Songs Of Faith" and "Looking At My Future",
and Beth Snapp's "That Can't Be Me".

Jim Price

Jim Price has 30 years in the recording industry working with a wide array of local, regional and national artists across many genre’s. As a freelance engineer he has worked in studios throughout Western NC and East TN, Nashville & Atlanta, and most recently with Maggard Sound in Big Stone Gap, VA. Along the way he has gathered three Grammy nominations, and numerous Dove Awards/Nominations.
